Opera is where a guy gets stabbed in the back, and instead of dying, he sings. ~ Robert Benchle
Moxie did not get the memo from God that said: "All babies will love their car seats and sleep. Thus saith the Lord."
She must have been out sightseeing when that memo went out. She hates her car seat. Whenever she gets in it, she will be fine for a short time, but if we start driving anywhere... she screams. Bloody. Freaking. Murder.
It's really the only time she cries. When she's in her seat. However, I have found the magical cure all for her screaming.
I sing Opera. Not very well, mind you. But, I sing it none-the-less. It is actually quite hilarious. She will start screaming and I will let her go for a few minutes while I work myself up for what is about to come...
An Operatic rendition of this: "Moxie, why are you crying. OHhhohhoh. Moxie. Why must thou cry? Your crying is so loud; your crying is so sad. M-AHHHH-xxxx-iieee! Why are you crying..."
I sing this over and over. She immediately stops screaming and listens. (probably from sheer terror!) I'll sing for a while, and then stop. After a few minutes of sweet, blessed silence, she starts screaming again. It's quite amazing really. I am surprised the windows haven't shattered as I do my Operatic vocal runs. I sing it lagato, staccato, soprano and bass. And, to be honest, it totally cracks me up. Don't you wish you could hear it?

1. Let Me Down Easy - Chris IsaakThing 1 is really starting to dig this whole blogging gig. She is routinely forgetting to finish her homework, because: "Mom! Something funny happened and I have to blog it!" I am glad she has a creative outlet. She even made a blog for the Crazy Boxer Dog. (borrowing the idea from Miss Mattie). Yes she did. And, she actually blogs. In the dogs voice.

My moral purity talk went pretty good with the youth at church. I told them that when I got asked to give the talk, I felt a little like Indian Jones in his first movie. You know where he opens up the gigantic tomb and falls on his back and moans "Snakes! why does it have to be snakes?!" Only I banged my head against the wall (demonstrating) and moaned "Sex! Why does it have to be sex?!" It went on from there. I feel pretty good about it. There was lots of laughing, and testimony sharing... so I think it was good.
I made an acronym F.A.C.E.S and told them this would be the key, basically to their success. Friends (guilty by association-whether good or bad) ; Actions (their actions always have consequences/burdens); Choices (their choices will always affect others-- sometimes affecting those they don't know yet); Expectations (They will be there because of the people they choose to associate with); Saviors Atonement (its real. It works. They will need it). I think it went well. The kids are still talking about it, so I guess that's good. Several Moms & 1 Dad emailed me & called to say their kids LOVED it. Whew. I'm just glad its over!

I am dying to attend a Fall Festival. Anyone know of one? I dearly miss the Fall in Illinois. There was a lovely Apple Barn by my home that we would frequent in the fall. It was our favorite place to waste a Saturday. The kids loved the playground, we loved the craft barn and all their various treats to sample. You could go out and pick your own apples and take a wagon ride. Later on in the Fall, there is the pumpkin picking. Harvest time is my favorite time of year. And, I miss it.
