“Sometimes life seems like a dream, especially when I look down and see that I forgot to put on my pants”
- Jack Handy, SNL

I hate laundry. I have mentioned this here on this blog more times than I would care to even read. I really do. I actually offered, at church, to clean all their bathrooms -- if someone would come and save my sorry self from my mounds of laundry.

No takers.

I think they know just how out of control my laundry is too. However, I had some people over for dessert on Monday night (her and her) and spent the weekend cleaning like a crazy person would. I actually had all the laundry done, and folded in neat little piles on the laundry room counter. I felt pretty slick.

We had our little soiree -- complete with the fire pit and lots and lots of laughing! The next morning, I could NOT figure out why my house smelled like we had been camping. I went in the CLEAN laundry room, only to bowled over with forest fire smells.

GASP!

I had left the laundry room windows open-- and all my clean laundry now smelled like we had been living in a smokey cave for the last 3 years.

Holy Smoke. Seriously stinky people. So. I am back at square-freaking-one with my laundry. Only, I have been trying some new radical laundry trick I just thought up. When the clothes come out of the dryer-- I have been folding them and immediately putting them away.
Genius. For reals.
Why did I not ever think of this before?

Life changing, this little thing is. (that was very Yoda-ish!)

Apparently, I have no sense of style. I was reminded of this when I stood at the corner the other day putting my child on the bus. All the other moms had their hair done, makeup on, and clothes that looked like they had just stepped off the set of "What Not to Wear" -- and they were proudly touting what you SHOULD wear. I looked down at my over sized paint t-shirt, baseball hat wearing head and baggy cropped exercise pants.... I felt this big.

I really don't like to shop, and its probably because I just really have no idea how to put things together. I will go to Kohl's and find a shirt I like-- then buy 3 of the same shirts in different colors. (Stacy and Clinton would have a hay-day with me!) I have a rather stylish haircut (thanks to my Über cool hair stylist- Harm!) But my style ends at my neck.

I have no idea how to put together outfits-- let alone garnish myself with accessories. I would like to be garnished... but its just easier to throw on jeans, t-shirts and wear some crocs.

Good TV started again last night. I DVR'd them all. I feel relief that I now have a plethora of shows that I can watch in the middle of the night when I can't sleep. Which is more often than not. What did you watch last night?

I finished reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy for the 2nd time. I love this book, but find myself being haunted by it for weeks afterwards. I imagine what I would do and find myself planning my own little bunker in my backyard. I know exactly where I would build it and I am trying to figure out how I could lock it from the inside, get the grass to grow on the door so that no one walking in my backyard could find it.

Maybe if I could build an underground bunker like in the movie Blast from the Past... that would be sweet. And I would not have to worry about all those scary roving bands of rangers.

Oddly, after reading this book, I find myself wanting to ramp UP my food storage. Really really wanting to ramp it up now.

I love this book. Really really love it. It is dark, disturbing and scary real. It is, according to several academics, the most accurate telling of how life would be on earth post apocalyptic event. I had someone scoff at me recently, when we were talking about this book in real life... "No way is this accurate. People will not... no! Can not be this evil."
I smiled at her and just said four little words: "Remember post-hurricane Katrina?"

I will be writing a review of the book, and posting it over on the book blog I belong to next week. Come check us out...join the conversation! They are smart bunch of women-- those book bloggin' babes!

I have ADHD.

(gasp! I just reveled that to the whole world)

No one really knows about. I never talk about it, because people have negative ideas of what that would mean. I am not a psycho. I do not beat my children and I have never chased anyone with a knife.

Being a person with ADHD is a little like this: You are listening to a radio station-- only you put it between 3 radio stations. And you hear a little bit of everything along with some static. It's hard to hear the music and its really hard to understand what is being said when you listen to music like that.

For most people, it would give them a headache.

That is how my brain usually is. All the time. A big jumbled mess. It's hard for me to concentrate on one set thing. I jump from thing to thing a lot and I look to outsiders like a flake. For years, I have taken medicine. But, I have been RX free for the last 15 months for obvious reasons (Moxie) and my life reflects this fact. I know how to manage my ADHD... but I think if people around me really knew me, they just might be less critical.
Ya know?

I bring this up because I read on someones blog recently that their son had been diagnosed with ADD, and it seemed that they were a little despondent. I can't, for the life of me, remember what blog it was on...

(I read a lot of other blogs for the other gig I do...you should submit YOUR blog... its a wonderful place to hang out. Good women just trying to do their best! I promise I won't put you in the dumb blog category!)

Anyway, I have been thinking about this mother a lot this week. I just wanted her to know that it's not the end of the world to have ADHD or ADD for that matter. I turned out OK. It's just a different way to think-- to process information. Sometimes its quite frustrating, because its hard to turn the static down so you can concentrate. But you can. I promise.

I'm a little melancholy that my turn with the Bucket Fillers is coming to an end. I have really enjoyed it. It was really fun coming up with them and finding the perfect little pictures to go with it! But this morning, I saw in my Edit posts thingers that am now down to 4 posts that are scheduled to post. That makes me feel a little sad. When I started this, back on September first, my edit posts dashboard had 30 posts scheduled. Man! This month has flown by!

I am getting ready to pass the bucket on to someone else... and I know she will be fabulous. I will be honest. I probably will continue doing a few here and there. Just cause I really liked it. If for nothing else, it made me focus on things other than ME. (because I am learning that as much as I would like it to, the world does not revolve around me. dang.)

There's my random randomness for this week. There was a lot of it. I wonder if you are still reading?

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends. It's our last football game. My son has blossomed while playing this violent sport. We made it. And, he is begging for indoor football now.
Eeee gads!

I have always sworn that I would never, in a million years, allow this meat-head sport to be played by my brilliant, musically gifted son. But, here we are. I will write a post, soon, on the things I have learned from being a football mama.

But until then, be well and do good work!
